2024 is here! It’s a brand new year and a great time to try something new. Mark your calendar for these upcoming January events with Arlington Parks and Recreation.

Noon Year Party (50+ yrs) – Friday, January 5

Come join us at East Library and Recreation Center to start 2024 together! Seniors are invited to celebrate the New Year at 12 PM at East’s Noon Year party on February 5. We will have refreshments, games, music, and cupcakes for your enjoyment. A Senior Activity Pass is required for this event.

MLK Day of Service Festival – Monday, January 15

Celebrate the contributions of community volunteers at the MLK Day of Service Festival in Downtown Arlington on January 15! This event from 10 AM – 2 PM will showcase the MLK essay contest winner, local dance troupes and music groups, the Tarrant County College traveling timeline, and informational videos on MLK Jr. Come enjoy this FREE family-focused event with face painting, imagination playground, and great community entertainment!

Adult Day Trip: Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Cowboys of Color – Monday, January 15

Join us as we take an adults-only day trip to Fort Worth for the Stock Show & Rodeo’s Cowboys of Color event on January 15! Watch top African-American, Hispanic, and Native American cowboys and cowgirls compete in traditional rodeo events like bull riding, steer wrestling and tie-down roping. This day trip will depart from Dottie Lynn Recreation Center.

Paint Your Pet – Saturday, January 27

Capture your pet's image in this fun and creative class at East Library Recreation Center on January 27, where we will paint a portrait of our beloved companions. Participants will need to pre-register and submit a photo of their pet beforehand, so canvases can be prepped for the final masterpiece. This program is designed for ages 10 and up, and is suitable for all skill levels.

Silent Disco – Saturday, January 27

Dance to your own beat or enjoy a quiet night with friends at this unique party hosted by East Library and Recreation Center on January 27. All guests will be given a pair of headphones for the night and will have different options for listening to music or movies. Dance, watch a movie, or play games with friends! Pizza and snacks will be provided. This youth event is sensory-friendly.
