Women’s History Month: Great Women Scavenger Hunt

Spend this week learning all about the amazing women in history and their accomplishments with this awesome scavenger hunt in honor of Women's History Month. This is available all day during open hours at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Library.

Artist Unknown: Works From Around the World

The College Town Renaissance Center presents Artist Unknown: Works From Around the World, which includes curated items for the Home+Body in the specialty space: Adorned. The exhibition is open Fridays and Saturdays 12-3 p.m. through Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Concacaf Nations League Finals 

The Concacaf Nations League semifinals and final are coming to AT&T Stadium. On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the game schedule includes 6 p.m. USA vs. Jamaica, and then 9:15 p.m. it is Panama vs. Mexico. The winners of those matchups face each other in the final 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 24, while the remaining teams play for the third-place prize, 5 p.m. before the final. Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library as we playfully discover the world around us!  Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Best App for Seniors 

Some people never venture beyond the handful of apps that came preinstalled on their Apple, Android, or Windows device. Other people load their devices to the brim with apps they rarely if ever use. There are a handful of apps, though, that will keep you learning, growing, and sharing throughout your life. Some read books to you, others serve up daily crossword puzzles, and still others help make sure you don’t forget about any medications. Join the discussion as an adult librarian presents overviews of those apps and gives you a chance to share your suggestions with the class on apps you can't live without! The event takes place 3-4 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Woodland West Branch Library’s Community Room. No registration required. 

Tween and Teen Hour of Code

Tweens and teens ages 10-17 are invited to spend an hour learning the basics of computer science and coding. This program is ideal for those with very little to no coding experience. You’ll meet in the Explore computer lab on the 2nd floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024. March sessions: HTML and CSS. While no previous coding experience is necessary, basic computer and typing skills are recommended. Registration is required.

Underwater EGGstravaganza

The Second Annual EAST Underwater EGGstravaganza takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center. Children will be able to hunt for eggs in the water and collect a prize at the end! Please take note of the following egg hunt times per age group:

  • 5:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.: 3-5 yr
  • 6:15 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.: 6-9 yr
  • 7 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.: 10-12 yr

Participants under 42 inches and those needing a lifejacket MUST be accompanied in the water by an adult. Lifejackets will be available on a first come, first serve basis; all participants MUST pre-register. Click here to register!

Parents' Night Out - Have a Ball!

Enjoy a night out while we have some fun at Dottie Lynn 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024. Parents' Night Out is a great opportunity for youth to hang out after school. Get wild in our bounce house, play video and board games, and enjoy a themed craft! Dinner is provided for this event aimed for those ages 5-12. Click here to register!

The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend. You can experience An Evening with Steven Curtis Chapman 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, then 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23, it’s Lone Star Skynyrd, and wrapping up the weekend 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24, it’s Celtic Angels Ireland. Cliff Community Garage Sale & Market

Day Trip – Grapevine Vintage Railroad

Join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department to ride a Victorian-style coach from Grapevine to the Stockyards. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, meeting at the Dottie Lynn Recreation Center. To register for the event, click here.

Silent Book Club 

The book club with no assigned reading and no pressure! They meet once a month at local spots around Arlington & Grand Prairie to read, drink, and be in community with other bookworms. Bring any book you choose, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for optional socializing just before and after our reading time. Meetup location is Nehemiah Coffee, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Pet Adoptions Event

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at PetSmart at Arlington Highlands with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? NASA Ambassador Presents: Total Eclipse Over Texas

Explore women's history and learn about the total eclipse over Texas 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s [re]Brary Room A. Maria Blue, NASA's Solar System Ambassador, will provide information about this historical event. This program is for all ages!

Pioneer Days at Knapp Heritage Park

The event takes place 1- 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Knapp Heritage Park. UTA Museum Studies students will be dressed in period costumes and leading tours of the cabins. There will also be crafts, such as butter-making and corn husk dolls. It should be a fun afternoon for the whole family. And, our bluebonnets are in bloom, which could make for some festive Easter photos amidst the rustic atmosphere of the cabins!

Carve with Me: Boxes

The Inventables Carvey is a 3D carving machine that allows users to carve on a variety of materials including ABS plastic, linoleum, and wood. In this class, which takes place 3-6 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room , participants will learn how to navigate the Inventables software and how to properly operate the Carvey milling machine. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 10 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 18+.

Baseball Score Basics 

Learn the art of paper score keeping and track pitches, players, hits, and outs in this interactive program designed for beginners 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center. Clinic includes classroom instruction, scorebook, and chance to test your skills at a UT Arlington baseball game following the class. Purchase of $7 UTA ticket is separate and can be done ahead of time through their online box office or in person at the game, pending availability. Participants must provide their own transportation to UTA's Clay Gould Stadium. Baseball game begins at 1 p.m. Click here to register!

Arlington Community Band’s Rock & Roll Concert

The Arlington Community Band presents its Rock & Roll Concert 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Veterans Park. It is free to attend. 

Future Faces Concert

The Future Faces show at Texas Live! will be followed by a performance by Love & Chaos. Doors open 5 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024. Acoustic song wrap that allows the audience to discover the artists and their talents in a more intimate environment. This year's artist lineup includes Billie Jo Jones, Brooke Graham, Chuck Wimer, Ben McPeak, Payton Howie, Ray Nicole, and Howard Country. The audience at PBR will vote for the best performance of the night and the winner will perform at the T3R awards on Monday, 3/25 at Texas Live! Get your tickets early as seating is limited. Jackals vs. NOLA Gold
