Drew Smith is living his American Dream as the founder and owner of Lone Star Drone. 

Lone Star Drone, based in Arlington, is a veteran-owned and operated company founded by Smith in 2018 after he served in the United States Army. 

“A lot of these were talking about what they were going to go back to, when they got off their deployment,” Smith explained. “They didn’t have careers to go back to. I had a good career to go back to so if I could help these guys out by starting some kind of company or some kind of business that employed these incredibly talented guys that were used to dealing with advanced technologies and really advanced systems, then that’s what I was going to do.”

The company’s pilots are all Part 107 licensed and certified, offering filming and photography services that complement your industrial, real-estate, commercial, and personal needs.  Using top-of-the-line drone equipment, Lone Star Drone states that it can tackle any engineering or enterprise focused mission. From thermography to mapping, modeling to inspection, the company says it can give its clients the results beyond what they expect.

Smith and his team at Lone Star Drone say they believe that the security of our nation, safety of our critical infrastructure, and support to our first responders is the cornerstone of protecting our nation’s most precious commodity, its people. 

Smith states that the way they achieve this is by only hiring the most qualified, proven, and capable pilots like our military veterans, as they deploy state-of-the-art United States-made drones and payloads that ensures data security and the highest quality of deliverables. Smith says they personally train their pilots, first responders, and private sector partners to expert levels using certified curriculum modeled off U.S. Department of Defense and other U.S. government training standards.
