Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Taylor Swift The Eras Collection and more at Arlington Museum 

Curated by the Arlington Museum of Art from Swift’s own private collection, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Collection is an exploration of Swift as an evolving, boundary-pushing artist. The exhibition will feature original costumes, photographs, videos, and more representing several of her creative periods, or “eras.” Highlights of the exhibition are eight costumes worn by Swift from her record-breaking albums Midnights, folklore, Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Admission into Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Collection will grant admission to the Girl in a Country Song, Hometown Harmonies, Toni Martin: Butterfly Kisses exhibitions. All exhibition runs through Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023.

Fright Fest

Oktoberfest Food Festival

Head over to Six Flags Over Texas through Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023 to enjoy craft & seasonal brews complimented with a menu of German inspired cuisine at the park’s Oktoberfest Food Festival. Celebrate Oktoberfest with Six Flags by adding a Taste of Oktoberfest Sampler to your order. Six Flags Over Texas is offering over 30 beers and wines during our Oktoberfest event, including a popular list of “Oktoberfest” favorites.

Joseph Farbrook: A Mirror in the Void – Reflections of Consciousness 

The Gallery at UTA is pleased to present Joseph Farbrook: A Mirror in the Void – Reflections of Consciousness, an investigation into sentience expressed through digitally designed and fabricated forms integrated with experimental screen and projection technologies. The exhibition includes video sculptures, virtual reality, interactive pieces with live streamed text, videos, and animations projected on mirrors and viewers’ faces, a 3d printed video sculpture with autostereoscopic screen, and an immersive 4-channel video projection room. Farbrook is an American artist who received his MFA in Media Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and currently is an Associate Professor teaching New Media at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He invents customized media platforms that mix physical and virtual art making practices, and within his work he explores the evolution and consequences of cultural mythology and mediated perception. Farbrook exhibits his work regularly in galleries, museums, and installations worldwide, including Meow Wolf, SIGGRAPH, International Symposium for Electronic Arts, CURRENTS, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Watermans Gallery (London), Cyberarts Gallery, and numerous solo and group exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, as well as other national and international sites. The exhibit ends Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023

Health Resource Day

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department hosts a Health Resource Day from 2-4 p.m. at the East Library and Recreation Center to meet 10+ vendors who want to help you with housing, utilities, transportation, food, medical, insurance, well-being and more! We will have free snow cones for visitors to enjoy while they mingle. Ages 50+. No registration required.

Miller Lite Hot Country Nights: Josh Ward

Texas Live! hosts Miller Lite Hot Country Nights powered by TXU Energy. Join in for a show dedicated to the King of Country! It’s the Bryan Martin concert taking the stage at the CBD Kratom Backyard with doors opening 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023. The Show is free to attend but you can upgrade your concert experience. Family Nature Hour: Stick Boat Regatta

Join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center for a fun evening in nature from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023. For this family friendly adventure, we will be collecting supplies from nature and building stick boats to float in our pond. This event is FREE to attend. Click here to register.

Goals and Gritos

Join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department at Bob Cooke Park for Goals and Gritos to kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month 6-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.  North Texas Soccer Club will be present and UTA Soccer will host a youth soccer clinic. Enjoy a Futsal showcase, food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, family fun, and more.

Levitt Pavilion Fall Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Fall Concert Series kicks off 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, with Sarah Johnson opening for Kelly Willis, and then 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, with Martin Reyna as the opening artist for Laura Denisse y Los Brillantes. These concerts are free. Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend. You can experience Twitty & Lynn: A Salute to Conway & Loretta 8:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, and then it’s Crystal Gayle 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. Click on the event for ticket information.

DFW Heroes Run 

Head out to River Legacy Park 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, for the 2023 Dallas-Fort Worth, TX 9/11 Heroes Run. The 9/11 Heroes Run unites communities internationally with the goal to never forget the sacrifices of the heroes of September 11th and the wars since: veteran, first responder, civilian and military. Tamale Workshop

Hola amigos! Join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department for this fantastic and yummy tamale making workshop 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the East Library and Recreation Center. We'll provide the supplies and have an instructor help guide you to make your very own batch of tamales. At the end of the class, you'll be able to take your tasty work home! Mobile Pet Adoption Event

Join Arlington Animal Services inside PetSmart at Lincoln Square for a tail-wagging, family-friendly, pet-saving community event 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. Adorable adoptable pets looking for new homes will be available inside PetSmart and ready for immediate adoption. Scheduled events are subject to cancellation without notice due to unfavorable weather conditions (heat, cold, storms, etc.) for the safety and protection of adoptable pets, volunteers, and staff.

Rally Days 

Rally Days presented by SeatGeek give NFL fans an experience of a lifetime the day prior to Dallas Cowboys home games – enjoy activities at Miller Lite®House, get a behind-the-scenes tour of AT&T Stadium and more. Spice Club: The 4 C's of Mexican Cooking

Let's spice it up for Hispanic Heritage Month with the 4 C's of Mexican cooking: Cayenne, Cumin, Coriander, and Chili Powder 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. It's not just for chili.  Learn different ways to spice things up in your kitchen.

At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share! 

Each kit will include:

  • Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
  • two simple recipe suggestions;
  • Small packet of the featured spice to try.

This month you will learn about: Cayenne, Cumin, Coriander, and Chili Powder. Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.

Handbuilt Pottery Vase Workshop at Catalyst Creative Arts

This Handbuilt Pottery Vase second workshop is where you will learn glazing techniques, glaze the vase from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at Catalyst Creative Arts. To register, click here.

Laser Cutter Ages 9+: Handwriting 

Learn about the many things you do with the Glowforge Laser Cutter in this introductory class and how you can add your own handwritten details. It all takes place 3-5p Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. The laser cutter cuts, engraves, and scores a variety of materials including wood, acrylic, and leather to create a myriad of projects. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 8 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13 to adult.

Sunday Brunch

Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and our favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon french toast and served with maple syrup! Guests can also order off of our à la carte menu, making the Sunday Brunch a great option for families, picky eaters or those with smaller appetites. Reservations Welcomed: 817-548-5047. 

Walk in & Paint Pottery 

Walk in and paint pottery at Catalyst Creative Arts from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023. No reservation required. Just walk in and choose a pottery item to paint from their large selection. Pottery prices range from $25 to $50. You will be given glaze, brushes, instructions and everything you need to paint your pottery. Pottery will remain at the studio to be fired. Pick up can be arranged in about one week. You must be seated no later than 3 p.m.

Centennial Tiny Art for Adults

Celebrate the Arlington Public Library's 100th anniversary and make your mark in our history by participating in this community art project 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023 at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. During the month of September, adults are invited to this drop-in art session to create miniature paintings inspired by the prompt: "What does community mean to you?" These tiny works of art will be put on display during the Centennial Gala in November.

Cowboys host Jets

Your hometown Cowboys host the New York Jets in their regular season home opener 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at AT&T Stadium. Limited tickets are available now at SeatGeek.com.
