Arlington Museum of Art’s Three Exhibitions

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor 

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest waterpark in North Texas, is open daily for the 2024 season daily through Sunday, Aug. 11 and then will be open during Saturday and Sunday the rest of August. Hurricane Harbor offers guests more than 40 rides, slides, attractions, and pools across a sprawling 47 acres with three million gallons of water. Families can enjoy the adventures of Splashwater Beach and Hook’s Lagoon and experienced thrill seekers can take on Tsunami Surge, Typhoon Twister and Wahoo Racer. One of the park’s newest attractions is Banzai Pipeline, a four-story waterslide complex boasting three unique body slides that will spin, splash, and swirl guests down nearly 300-feet. Volleyball Nations League 2024

The world’s top teams will compete in the women’s Volleyball Nations League at the College Park Center Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 2, 2024 for the last major volleyball event before the Paris Olympics and the only VNL games in the USA this year. Teams to include the reigning Olympic Champions USA as they look to redeem themselves after coming in 4th in 2023, Volleyball Nations League 2023 Champions Türkiye along with Canada, Korea, Germany, Serbia, Bulgaria and Poland. Spectators can expect a week of intense volleyball action featuring the world’s best athletes. Pricing starts as low as $16 for a child’s ticket and $23 for adults, not including fees. Levitt Pavilion Spring Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Spring Concert Series continues starting 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, it’s Texas Hill with Aaron Stephens, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, it’s Jaime DeAnda with Vanita Leo, then 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, it’s Artemis Funk with AdamMarie and Joseph Fisher-Schramm. These concerts are free. Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. Final Fridays - Family History Workshops for Beginners & Beyond

Join the Arlington Public Library to explore how to get started researching your Family History plus tips, tricks, sources, and practical advice to keep you moving forward into your past — even as an experienced genealogist! The event takes place 4-6 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Genealogy and Local History Room. In addition to the many free resources the library offers family history researchers both online and in person — such as Ancestry Library Edition, you’ll explore research strategies & organizational techniques that will save you a lot of time and frustration down the road.  Then there will be a discussion of four approaches to capturing and conveying your findings to others perfect for both beginners and long-time researchers. Finally, you’ll close your time with attendees beginning or continuing their personal family history research with guidance from Arlington Public Library's Genealogy Librarian and trained volunteers from the Arlington Genealogical Society!  The goal is that everyone who comes will leave with at least one new detail or document about their heritage and have an idea of how to continue. No registration. Just come!

Final Friday Pottery Share & Learn -Feature: Pulling and Attaching Handles

Pottery nerds meet monthly to share and learn tips and tricks from each other. Meetings will be held Jan-Sep on the last Friday of each month, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Catalyst Creative Arts. Each meeting will feature a demonstration of a technique, product, tool, technology, or information like chemistry, history, business, and social media tips, provided from someone in attendance. Each meeting an attendee will volunteer to demo at the next meeting. These are free community meetings for anyone interested in ceramics but are planned for about 25 people. The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend. You can experience Texas Bluesmen Band - The Ultimate Blues Brothers Tribute 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, then 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, it’s The Best of Motown and More, 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1, it’s Pure Prairie League and then 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, it’s The Movement Academy. Downtown Arlington Car Show

Get ready to rev your engines and experience a blast from the past at the Downtown Arlington Classic Car 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Vandergriff Town Center. Come and admire an impressive lineup of classic cars that will transport you back in time. In addition to the jaw-dropping cars from a variety of decades, enjoy a number of delicious food vendors, live music, and the chance to witness car enthusiasts compete for top awards. This show is dedicated to showcasing a variety of classic cars, from vintage muscle cars to antique hot rods. It promises to be a fun-filled day for car enthusiasts and families alike. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire these beautiful vehicles up close and vote for their favorite cars as part of the People's Choice Award. Pet Adoptions Event 

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be PetSmart at Lincoln Square with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Discover Summer Kickoff: Characters & Cars 

Kickoff another exciting summer with the Arlington Public Library! This year, they will be pairing up with the Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show for a special combined event that features all kinds of book and character-themed activities and games as well as a fun-filled day seeing amazing cars! On Saturday, June 1, 2024, the car show starts at 9 a.m. and the library will be offering activities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 1st and 2nd floors inside the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. KUTUB: Arabic Book Club 

The Arabic Book Club “Kutub” meets on the first Saturday of the month from 1-3 p.m., at the at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Dream Study Room. Members will discuss novels, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, music, feature films or documentaries that explore Arabic culture. Read and discuss what you’ve read. Exploring new cultures, values, and practices is what makes us better human beings as any culture has things to teach us, regardless of differences. Open for adults and seniors. No registration required.
