Arlington Museum of Art’s Three Exhibitions

Steel Magnolias at Theatre Arlington

Prepare to be moved to tears and laughter in equal measure with ‘Steel Magnolias’ at Theatre Arlington. This heartwarming tale of love, friendship, and resilience in a small Southern town will tug at your heartstrings. Join a remarkable group of women as they gather in a charming beauty salon and share their joys and sorrows, reminding us that the bonds of friendship are unbreakable. Homestretch Celebration 

Celebrate the end of AP exam season and the homestretch before the end of the school year! The Sun Club Garden will be reserved for a party just for teens 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Sun Club Garden. The Arlington Public Library will have crafts, board games, and more. This program is intended for teens ages 13 - 17. Art After Dark: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage 

Explore your creative side in this after-hours artsy program for adults, AAPI edition 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. Participate in artistic and beautiful crafts from the Asian diaspora including Japanese origami, Korean maedeup knots, and Filipino-styled air dry clay pottery. 

Fluid Art

Fluid art or pour painting with acrylic is a fun and exciting way to create beautiful abstract art 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Catalyst Creative Arts. You will use various colored and premixed acrylic paints on a 16 x 20 or 18 x 24-inch canvas. Our artists will instruct you through several fluid art techniques and work with you as you complete your project. Paintings will be left to dry for 72 hours at the studio and then varnished by our artist before they can be picked up. No experience necessary. Recommended for 8 years and up. All materials provided.

Rangers host Los Angeles Angels    

Your hometown Rangers host the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game weekend set at Globe Life Field 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 17, 6:15 p.m. Saturday, May 18, and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024. Ticket information can be found on the Rangers’ website

Levitt Pavilion Fall Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Spring Concert Series continues starting 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, it’s Jacob Stelly with The Red Iron Push, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, it’s Las Fenix with Ceci Ceci, then 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, it’s Stooges Brass Band with Sean Hobbes & The Hi Res. These concerts are free. Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be Petco (4001 W Green Oaks Blvd Ste #159) with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Spice Club

Learn about Mint and Rosemary 12-1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. Learn different ways to spice things up in your kitchen. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share! 

Each kit will include:

  • Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
  • two simple recipe suggestions;
  • Small packet of the featured spice to try.

Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.

KUTUB: Arabic Book Club 

The Arabic Book Club “Kutub” meets on the first Saturday of the month from 1-3 p.m., at the at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Resilience Multipurpose Room. Members will discuss novels, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, music, feature films or documentaries that explore Arabic culture. Read and discuss what you’ve read. Exploring new cultures, values, and practices is what makes us better human beings as any culture has things to teach us, regardless of differences. Open for adults and seniors. No registration required.

Air Dry Clay Bowls 

Create air dried clay bowls with ink stamped designs 3-6 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. This class is limited to the first 12 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 9+. Arlington Public Library staff ask that adults attend with children 9-12 to assist with the craft.

Head over to Texas Live! 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, as the Texas Rangers celebrate Hispanic culture together throughout the season. As a way to recognize and empower the Hispanic community, Viva Tejas welcomes you to CBD Kratom Backyard one Home Saturday Game every month, highlighting Hispanic traditions through food, live music, vendors, games, and more! This Saturday, there will be live music by La Energia Norteña. 

Feral Cat Sunday 

 Arlington Animal Services is having a special Trap-Neuter-Return event for feral cats in Arlington 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Arlington Animal Services Center. The first 20 cats to arrive between 8-9 a.m. are eligible for these free clinics. Only the first 20 Arlington feral cats will be accepted, and only one feral cat per trap. Walk In & Paint Pottery

 Walk In and Paint Pottery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Catalyst Creative Arts. No reservation required. Just walk in and choose a pottery item to paint from our large selection. Pottery prices range from $25 to $50. You will be given glaze, brushes, instructions and everything you need to paint your pottery. Pottery will remain at the studio to be fired. Pick up can be arranged in about 1-2 weeks. Please be seated no later than 4 pm.
