The Music Stand Arts Festival

The Music Stand Arts Festival is a four-day cultural arts celebration Aug. 14-17. 2024 at the Dr. Marcelo Cavazos Center for Visual & Performing Arts. Big Fish at Theatre Arlington

Check out ‘Big Fish’ at Theatre Arlington. Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom, whose incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him. Overflowing with heart and humor, Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier, and bigger than life itself. Rangers host Minnesota Twins     

Your hometown Rangers host the Minnesota Twins for a four-game weekend set at Globe Life Field 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 & Friday, Aug. 16, then 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. Ticket information can be found on the Rangers’ website

Ride to Vegas Competition 

Starting Friday, Aug. 2 through Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, Texas Live! staff will select 10 participants each week to compete every Friday for the Mechanical Bull Riding Competition for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas! Finals: One winner from each competition night will advance to the finals the week prior to the associated home event. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor 

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest waterpark in North Texas, is open daily for the 2024 season daily through Sunday, Aug. 11 and then will be open during Saturday and Sunday the rest of August. Hurricane Harbor offers guests more than 40 rides, slides, attractions, and pools across a sprawling 47 acres with three million gallons of water. Families can enjoy the adventures of Splashwater Beach and Hook’s Lagoon and experienced thrill seekers can take on Tsunami Surge, Typhoon Twister and Wahoo Racer. One of the park’s newest attractions is Banzai Pipeline, a four-story waterslide complex boasting three unique body slides that will spin, splash, and swirl guests down nearly 300-feet. Theoria Eclipsium: Curiosity, Captivation, Connection

UTA Libraries Special Collections is proud to present Theoria Eclipsium: Curiosity, Captivation, Connection, an exhibition featuring over 500 years of Eclipse History! The exhibition features maps, rare books, and photographs from Special Collections and shows that regardless of time period or scientific knowledge, eclipses bring us together! This exhibition was produced in collaboration with students in Dr. Kim Breuer's Medieval Science and Technology class. The exhibit will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., inside UTA Libraries Special Collections, on the sixth floor of Central Library until Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024. Eclipse glasses and other giveaway items will be available for viewers of the exhibit, while supplies last.

Walk with a Doc (50+ yrs)

Get moving! Join volunteers and representatives from Sixty & Better to take a morning walk every 3rd Friday around the East Library and Recreation Center from 10-10:45 a.m. All levels of mobility are welcome, and you will get the opportunity to speak to a doctor about developing healthier habits. Parents' Night Out - Nerf Night

Enjoy a night out while we have some fun at Dottie Lynn 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2024. Parents' Night Out is a great opportunity for youth to hang out during the summer. Get wild in our bounce house, play video and board games, and enjoy a themed craft! Dinner provided. Click here to register!

Parents' Night Out - Nerf Night 

Dance to your own beat or enjoy a quiet night with friends at this unique party 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center. All guests will be given a pair of headphones for the night and will have different options of music or movies to listen to. Dance, watch a movie, or play games with friends. Shows at Arlington Music Hall

The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend with duel shows Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 featuring Bob Wills' Texas Playboys at 2 p.m. and Texas Clearwater Revival at 8 p.m. Click on the event for ticket information.  

‘She Said, She Said’ at Arlington Museum of Art

The new Arlington Museum of Art in the Entertainment District features ‘She Said, She Said,’ a new collection from the renowned Rubell Museum, features celebrated works by more than thirty female artists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines. The exhibition runs from Aug. 17 through Nov. 3, 2024. For ticket information, click here

Pet Adoptions Event 

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at Petco at 4001 W. Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Silent Book Club 

The book club with no assigned reading and no pressure! They meet once a month at local spots around Arlington & Grand Prairie to read, drink, and be in community with other bookworms. Bring any book you choose, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for optional socializing just before and after the reading time. Meetup location is The Coffee Shoppe, 321 W Main St, Grand Prairie, TX, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024. 

Spice Club

Learn about Salt with guest speaker Lezlee Liljenberg 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. Learn different ways to spice things up in your kitchen. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share!

Each kit will include:

  • Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
  • two simple recipe suggestions;
  • Small packet of the featured spice to try.

Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.

Medicare 101

All Elite Wrestling presents Collision

A night at an All-Elite Wrestling show is packed with action 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Esports Stadium Arlington. Boasting an impressive roster of diverse male and female wrestlers, All Elite Wrestling features a wide variety of wrestling styles and twist-filled plots. Zach Bryan at AT&T Stadium

Fight Night Live! 

 Fight Night Live! is the ultimate watch party for the upcoming matches at Texas Live! Grab your crew and catch all the action for UFC 305 in Sports & Social Arlington, 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 17, 2024. Enjoy multiple screens for viewing, drink specials, live entertainment, games, giveaways and more. 

¡Viva Tejas!

Head over to Texas Live! 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, as the Texas Rangers celebrate Hispanic culture together throughout the season. As a way to recognize and empower the Hispanic community, Viva Tejas welcomes you to CBD Kratom Backyard one Home Saturday Game every month, highlighting Hispanic traditions through food, live music, vendors, games, and more! This Saturday, there will be live music by Noel Torres. 

Feral Cat Sunday 

Arlington Animal Services is having a special Trap-Neuter-Return event for feral cats in Arlington 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at the Arlington Animal Services Center. The first 20 cats to arrive between 8-9 a.m. are eligible for these free clinics. Only the first 20 Arlington feral cats will be accepted, and only one feral cat per trap. Kittens must be at least three (3) months old. Ferals must be in a trap. Learn more about the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program at https://www.arlingtontx.gov/tnr, or call 817-575-8131. 

Sunday Brunch

 Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and our favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon French toast and served with maple syrup!
