Surrounded by family and friends, the newly elected District 1 Representative Mauricio Galante was sworn in during the May 14, 2024, evening City Council meeting. Galante was elected May 4 to his first three-year term to serve City Council District 1, which encompasses North Arlington, River Legacy Park, and the Entertainment District. Galante fills in the seat vacated by Helen Moise, who served the maximum three terms as Council representative that is allowed by the City Charter.

Three Arlington City Council incumbents were also sworn in during Tuesday’s meeting. District 2 City Council representative Raul H. Gonzalez, who has served since 2020, was elected to his third and final term. District 2 boundaries are generally south of Interstate 20, west to the city limit at Kennedale, east to Matlock Road, and south to the city limit at Mansfield. District 2, which primarily covers southwest Arlington, includes the major shopping district along Cooper Street, the Harold Patterson Sports Complex, and the City’s Tierra Verde Golf Club.

District 6 At-Large Representative Long Pham and District 7 At-Large Representative Bowie Hogg, who have both served since 2022, were elected to their second terms. These seats represent the city as a whole.

In 2022, Arlington voters approved a City Charter amendment to extend City Council terms from two years to three years.
