Homeownership Fair 2024

The 2024 Homeownership Fair is just around the corner, but there’s still plenty of time to register or make plans to attend the event on Saturday, June 29 at the Bob Duncan Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Who should attend the event?

The 2024 Homeownership Fair is free and open to anyone with an interest in home buying and homeownership, including:

  • Current homeowners
  • Anyone who is actively looking for a new home
  • Anyone who is thinking about homeownership, but unsure how to get started or if homeownership is right (or possible) for them

“Yes, homeownership is more difficult to achieve these days, but it is absolutely still possible, especially when you’ve educated yourself on the process and armed yourself with resources,” said event organizer Dr. Nikky Lewis, Grants Manager for the City of Arlington. “Don’t rule yourself out of homeownership without even trying—attend the 2024 Homeownership Fair and find out more.”

What’s on tap at the 2024 Homeownership Fair?

The event will be packed with vendors and experts offering information and products related to all aspects of homebuying and homeownership. Topics covered and information sessions available include:

Down payment assistance programs (such as the Arlington Homebuyer Assistance program and state-sponsored assistance programs)

  • Improving your credit score
  • How to shop for mortgages and secure the best interest rates
  • How to pre-qualify for a mortgage and better position yourself to submit competitive offers
  • Home maintenance and improvement—learn how to make your home more sustainable with solar systems, leaf filtration, and upgraded HVAC
  • The basics of home insurance
  • Property taxes - how to plan for and protest

What do Homeownership Fair guests need to know before the event?

  • Parking at the Bob Duncan Center is free.
  • Kids are welcome—and we’ll have activities to keep them busy (see below).
  • Have a friend or family member interested in homeownership? Bring them along!
  • Pre-registration is recommended, but walk-ups are welcome.
  • This is a come-and-go event—but we recommend allowing at least an hour so that you have time to do everything and attend an information session.

The Homeownership Fair will also feature plenty of fun and family-friendly activities, such as treats from Kona Ice, children’s arts and crafts, and the Arlington Police Department’s mobile gaming truck (part of the department’s GameUP 5-0 program that brings gaming opportunities into the community.)

Who is sponsoring the Homeownership Fair?

In celebration of National Homeownership Month in June, the City of Arlington is sponsoring the event in partnership with ARBOR (the Arlington Board of Realtors), HREBA (the Hispanic Real Estate Brokers Association), and Housing Channel, a Tarrant County-based affordable housing non-profit organization. Other sponsors include Prosperity Bank, Prosperity Home Mortgage, Security State Bank & Trust, Sunflower Bank First National / Guardian Mortgage, Texas Dept. of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) and Transcend DFW Properties.
