City of Arlington Facility Service Update

After closures due to winter weather Feb. 3-4, 2022, City of Arlington facilities scheduled to do so will reopen on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. This includes libraries, Arlington Parks and Recreation centers/facilities and the Arlington Animal Services Shelter. Handitran will also resume service on Saturday, Feb. 5. Via, the City’s on-demand public transportation service, will run from noon to 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Due to the forecasted freezing conditions this evening, which may result in continued icy road conditions tomorrow morning, Republic Services will not be operating Saturday, Feb. 5 for trash and recycling pickup. The Arlington Landfill will also be closed.

Republic Services will be handling higher than usual volumes of trash next week. For single family residential customers, Republic will only be collecting household trash bags on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Bulk and Brush collection will resume on Thursday.

Additionally, the Salvation Army at 712 W. Abram St. is open as a Warming Station to those seeking shelter. Guests are being referred to the Salvation Army for check-in, starting 7:00 p.m. These shelters will provide meals, bottles of water, coffee, and hot drinks. During the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., through Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, the Arlington Life Shelter at 325 W. Division St., will serve as a Warming Center. This is an option for guests who choose not to stay overnight at the Salvation Army. ID is not required for admittance and food will be served. Residents can sign up for text alerts about cold weather shelters. Text “ARLCOLD” to 817-241-3544.
