The Arlington Police Department is investigating an auto-pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of a 41-year-old woman.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at approximately 11:01 p.m., officers responded to the 6400 block of S. Cooper Street after the driver of a 2015 Honda Accord called 911 to report that he’d hit someone.

When officers arrived, they found the woman lying unresponsive in the northbound lanes of traffic. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

She was not using a traffic light or designated crosswalk at the time.

The driver told officers he did not see the woman until it was too late to avoid her. He remained on scene, cooperated with the investigation, and is not facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased.

The Arlington Police Department reminds the public that pedestrians should always use traffic lights and designated crosswalks when crossing roadways, particularly major thoroughfares. Cutting across a roadway is dangerous at all times of the day, but especially at night when it’s dark outside and visibility is reduced.
