North Plaza Opens with Texas Live! on Aug. 9; Globe Life Field Seating Bowl Takes Shape
The Texas Rangers released new renderings today of the North Plaza for Globe Life Field and Texas Live! during a media construction update that took place on the Hilti Observation Deck at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The North Plaza, which will be the north entrance to Globe Life Field, is nearing completion and will open to the public with the opening of Texas Live! on Thursday, August 9. In addition to six video boards, the plaza features a 60-foot-wide fountain with a Texas Rangers T that can be programmed to entertain visitors with colorful water shows.
Among the construction updates for Globe Life Field was news that the installation of the precast concrete risers for the seating bowl began last week and that structural steel work is complete on the Rangers' office building.
The official groundbreaking for Globe Life Field took place on September 28, 2017, with construction beginning the following week. The new 1.7-million square-foot ballpark, which will be located on 13 acres just south of the current Globe Life Park in Arlington, will include a retractable roof for climate control and shelter for fans during the hot summer months. Seating capacity is approximately 40,000 for Globe Life Field, which will open in March 2020. HKS is the design architect for the project and Manhattan Construction Company is the Construction Manager.
