River Legacy Living Science Center Offers Spring Break Activities for Nature Lovers

Are you planning a stay-cation this Spring Break but still looking for fun and affordable things to do with the family? Then stop by River Legacy's Living Science Center for a week of family fun starting Monday, March 13 to Friday, March 17.

A tree hike will kick off Spring Break activities at the science center. Guided hikes will give families the opportunity to look for and identify common trees found in River Legacy's forest. Supplies will also be provided for leaf and bark rubbings.

On Tuesday visitors to the park will have the opportunity to get closer than ever to their favorite scaly, slimy friends. Snakes, lizards, and turtles will be the stars of the show during the reptile adventure animal exploration. Followed by arts and crafts.

Come out on Wednesday to take explore the River Legacy ponds for your favorite aquatic life. Visitors will be able to use dip nets to see what they can find swimming around the ponds.

Do you ever wonder what mammals can be found across the state of Texas? Then stop by on Thursday to meet a few of them. During this animal exploration visitors will get an up-close look of some of the most fascinating mammals found in this great state! Followed by a fun arts and crafts session.

Do you love the creepy crawlers that can be found in the dirt or hiding under rocks? Then the bug adventure hike on Friday is the perfect outing for you. Join the nature guides for a fun hike looking for insects. Magnifying glasses and bug boxes will be available during the hikes to get a better look at the insects.

Activities range in cost from free to $2 per person, except for the aquatic adventure which will be $2 per dip net. Ages two and under are free and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the last event at 3:30 p.m.
