The Arlington Police Department has made three arrests in connection to the murder of 51-year-old Frank Kwasnica, who was killed after being severely beaten at an apartment complex parking lot on January 19, 2024.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives were able to identify and obtain warrants for the arrests of the following individuals:

  • 22-year-old Brayan Amador Vasquez
  • 29-year-old Jared Amador Vasquez
  • 20-year-old Norlan Gomez-Torres

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located all three suspects in Arlington and took them into custody without incident. Each of them were booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Capital Murder.

It remains unclear why the suspects attacked the victim.

A witness captured cell phone video of the incident, which showed two vehicles near the victim and suspects that were no longer on scene when officers arrived. Investigators thought it was likely the suspects left the scene in the two vehicles. The next day, they recovered one of them, a blue Ford Mustang, at a different location approximately four miles away. They learned the Mustang belonged to Mr. Kwasnica -- and believe the suspects took it from the crime scene to dump it. Items belonging to Mr. Gomez-Torres were found inside the Mustang, which ultimately helped detectives identify him.

Through further investigation, they were also able to connect Brayan Amador Vasquez and Jared Amador Vasquez, who are brothers, to the crime.

“The victim in this case was beaten so severely, it took us nearly two days to identify him,” said Chief of Police Al Jones. “This was a brutal and horrific attack – and I’m relieved these individuals are off the streets. I applaud our Homicide Unit, Real Time Crime Center, and all of the other APD employees who worked diligently on this case. This type of violence has no place in our community – and I’m proud that our investments in technology, coupled with strong, collaborative investigation by our detectives helped us deliver justice in this instance.”

ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Friday, January 19, 2024, at approximately 12:27 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Blue Water Drive to investigate reports that several individuals were fighting.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a male lying unresponsive in the parking lot with severe blunt trauma to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Based on witness statements and evidence they reviewed at the scene, detectives believe two vehicles pulled up next to the victim in the parking lot, at which point three suspects exited the vehicles, started yelling at the victim, chased him, and then began striking him with two large objects.

No arrests have been made. At this time, detectives do not have detailed descriptions of the suspects or the vehicles they drove off in – and are asking members of the public to call in with tips.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Stafford at (817) 459-5739. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once he is positively identified and next of kin have been notified.
