Salcomp is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of power supplies for mobile and electronic devices from Finland, established in 1973. Additionally, they manufacture sensors based on wireless connectivity technology, precision structural parts and modules, 5G RF parts and magnetic materials. Headquartered in Salo, Finland, the company has production plants in China, Brazil and India, a manufacturing facility in Arlington, and offices in the U.S., Brazil, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong with over 12,000 employees.

Salcomp has committed to establishing their U.S. headquarters in Arlington with plans to create 660 new positions, with 156 of those at an average salary of $122,000. The company will look to fill these roles with local residents and UT Arlington graduates over the next three to five years. Salcomp will enter a performance agreement with the Arlington Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to help offset associated costs of the project.

“The best economic development always begins with existing business retention and expansion. Taking care of who's here now,” said Marty Wieder, executive director of the Arlington EDC.

“This agreement facilitates Salcomp's continued product line growth, continued hiring to an even greater extent and it especially encourages those jobs to go to Arlington residents and UTA graduates. That's a real 'win to the nth power' for Arlington,” he said.

With increased business and demand, Salcomp will expand operations in its current Arlington facility and is proposing to retrofit their facility to add three new production lines. The Arlington EDC will provide payments not to exceed $1,876,622, to include 30% of the infrastructure and site improvements, establishment of their U.S. headquarters and the job hiring grant up to $2,500 per local resident or UTA graduate. The company must meet all criteria of the agreement to receive any grant payments of the agreement term.
