The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of 28-year-old Alexander Rivas who was found deceased inside his Arlington home on October 21, 2024.
Following a thorough investigation, APD Homicide detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of 20-year-old Marshall McLemore on one count of Murder. Members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force and Corpus Christi Police Department located Mr. McLemore in the Corpus Christi area on November 14, 2024 and took him into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Nueces County Jail while he awaits extradition to Tarrant County.
Mr. McLemore became a person of interest after APD Crime Scene Investigators recovered his fingerprint from inside Mr. Rivas’ home in the 300 block of Kingfisher Lane. In the days after Mr. Rivas’ body was discovered, multiple witnesses also came forward with information implicating Mr. McLemore.
Detectives obtained cell phone records that placed Mr. McLemore at Mr. Rivas’ home within the timeframe of the murder and showed he had been communicating with Mr. Rivas just before his death. Based on evidence recovered from the crime scene, detectives believe high-risk drug activity was involved.

The Arlington Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a man who was found deceased inside a South Arlington home.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., patrol officers were flagged down by a man who told them he had gone to a home in the 300 block of Kingfisher Lane to check on a family friend who lived there – and when he entered the home, he discovered a body inside.
Officers responded to the home and located the remains of a deceased male in the living room. He had multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Based on the condition of the body, investigators were unable to fully identify him and believe he had been deceased for multiple days.
Relatives of the home’s registered tenant told detectives they had not heard from him since early Saturday afternoon, prompting them to contact the family friend who reported finding the body.
There were no signs of forced entry into the home. Based on evidence recovered from the scene, detectives believe high-risk drug activity may be involved.
