Arlington Water Utilities is notifying customers this month of utility and city services rate changes that took effect on Oct. 1, 2024. Look for an insert in your October Arlington Water Utilities bill with full details on rate changes. A copy of the billing insert is sent via email for paperless customers. The Arlington City Council approved the new rates in September. The information is also available online at ArlingtonTX.gov/water.

These rate changes will affect customers for 12 months of FY 2025, from Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2025. Effects will vary according to customer class and water usage levels.

The adjustments will result in a monthly increase of $3.65, or 5.18%, for the average residential customer using 8,000 gallons of water and 4,000 gallons of wastewater per month. The monthly increase for a commercial customer using 50,000 gallons of water and 50,000 gallons of wastewater per month will be 8.57% or $59.58.

The Arlington Water Utilities budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is $207,801,339, which is a 7.79% increase over the FY 2024 budget. The adjustment is necessary due to increases in raw water purchases, wastewater treatment, chemicals, and other costs associated with operating the utility.

The FY 2025 expenditure budget includes increases of:

  • $2 million for raw water purchases from Tarrant
    Regional Water District;
  • $4.4 million for wastewater treatment by Trinity
    River Authority;
  • $2 million for debt service payments;
  • $1.6 million for water treatment chemicals.

Garbage and Stormwater Fee Rates

New rates will also be in effect on Oct. 1, 2024 for trash/recycling collection services and Arlington’s stormwater (drainage) fee.

Residents will see a 5%, or $1 per month, increase in the garbage collection rate and a 50 cent per month increase to the stormwater rate.
