Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Arlington, the 5th most diverse large city in the country, is seeking 19 individuals to serve on a newly created International Corridor Implementation Steering Committee.

The International Corridor, located in East Arlington, runs along East Pioneer Parkway between Center Street and the eastern city limit with Grand Prairie. This culturally diverse commercial hub is home to more than 1,100 businesses, including Ben Thanh Plaza, the Halal Market, Fiesta Grocery and numerous restaurants, retailers and other small businesses.

The City Council voted Aug. 27, 2024, to create the citizen steering committee to continue the prioritization and implementation of the remaining action items in the City’s International Corridor Vision. That plan, adopted in 2023, outlines numerous recommendations to improve lighting and walkability, enhance aesthetics and identity, and build community capacity. We're looking for International Corridor residents, property owners, and business operators who share our vision of transforming this corridor into an even more thriving and welcoming space. Other interested citizens are also encouraged to apply.

These are volunteer positions. Click here to fill out an application and learn about eligibility requirements. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30, 2024.

Steering committee members will be appointed at Council meeting on Nov. 12, 2024. Bi-monthly steering committee meetings will be held beginning in early 2025.
