Residents Invited to Participate in FY25 Budget Town Hall Meetings Aug. 14 and Aug. 26
Residents can learn more about the City of Arlington's proposed $722 million Fiscal Year 2025 operating budget at two upcoming town hall meetings.
These in-person budget town hall meetings are scheduled for:
- 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 101 W. Abram St.
- 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at the Arlington Police South District Service Center, 1030 SW Green Oaks Blvd.
About the Budget
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, includes cost-saving measures to taxpayers while also fulfilling voter-approved amenities and shifting more funding toward public safety, street maintenance and community cleanliness. The proposed budget also includes a recommendation for a one-cent property tax rate adjustment and increases for residents’ water rate, the garbage collection rate and stormwater fee.
At the Aug. 13 meeting, the Council will call for a public hearing on the proposed budget and the proposed tax rate to be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Fiscaly Year 2025 proposed budget, presented to Council on Aug. 6, includes a tax rate of $0.5998 per $100 of assessed value. However, the Council may propose a different tax rate.
The proposed budget and business plan is built around supporting the City Council's six priorities: Champion Great Neighborhoods, Support Youth and Families, Invest in Our Economy, Enhance Regional Mobility, Leverage Technology and Build Unity.
