ORIGINAL RELEASE

The Arlington Police Department was notified that an 18-year-old man who was critically injured in a recent shooting has died from his injuries. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

On Monday June 24, 2024, at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Claire Court to investigate a reported shooting.

When they arrived on scene, they found the 18-year-old man, as well as a 20-year-old man, with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals.

The 20-year-old’s injuries are non-life threatening. The 18-year-old, who the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified as Jesus Galarza of Fort Worth, was pronounced deceased on June 26, 2024.

Investigators believe Mr. Galarza and the 20-year-old arranged to meet the suspected shooter in the neighborhood to engage in high-risk drug activity. Shortly after they arrived, the suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting at the vehicle the two victims were in at the time, striking both of them. The suspect then left the scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Detectives are currently following up on several strong leads as they work to identify and locate the suspect.
