Kick Off Summer Fun with Arlington Parks’ June Events

As summer rolls in, June is the perfect time for celebration, community, and fun in the sun! Mark your calendar for these upcoming June events with Arlington Parks and Recreation.

South Arlington Park Trails Public Meeting – Thursday, June 6

Arlington Parks and Recreation will host a public meeting on Thursday, June 6 at Glenn Harmon Elementary beginning at 6 PM to seek input for the formalization of the hike and bike trails that run through the following parks in south Arlington: F.J. "Red" Kane Park, Rush Creek Linear Park, O.W. Fannin Natural Area.

The project would consist of an agreement with the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association, updating the trails for safety, making the trails mixed-use for walkers and mountain bikers, and adding 911 location signage.

Woodland Wet Run – Saturday, June 15

Join us at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center on Saturday, June 15 for our 1st Annual Woodland Wet Fun Run! The run includes a one-mile warm-up and a five-kilometer run around the Woodland West neighborhood, starting at Dottie Lynn and ending at the Woodland West Pool. After your run, you'll make a splash in the Woodland West Pool, which will be open for race participants only. Make a dash and then a splash to kick off summer!

Sensory Swim – Saturday, June 15

Head out to Howard Moore Play Pool on Saturday, June 15 at 9 AM for a supervised swim for children with special needs. Registration is free for season pass holders, or $3 per person without a pass. This event is limited to 100 attendees. Children with special needs, their caregivers, and families are invited. This event is open to all ages, and each individual needs to register. Season pass holders will be able to use their 2023 season pass number as a coupon code.

Summer Solstice Yoga – Thursday, June 20

Summer solstice marks the longest, lightest day of the year! Enjoy an invigorating yoga class outdoors at The Beacon Recreation Center on Thursday, June 20 at 7:15 PM, followed by a 15-minute sound bath as we enjoy the longest day of the year. Ages 15+.

Ogre-Sized Splash Bash – Friday, June 21

Calling all ogres and fairytale creatures! Join us at our indoor swamp at East Library and Recreation Center on Friday, June 21 as we swim in the indoor pool and enjoy the hit motion-picture Shrek. The event begins at 5:30 PM and all ages are welcome. Come on and let's ogre-load on fun!

Light Up Arlington – Saturday, June 29

Celebrate Independence Day at Arlington Parks and Recreation’s 16th annual Light Up Arlington event on Saturday, June 29! Festivities will take place from 6 PM to 10:30 PM with fireworks beginning at 9:50 PM. Downtown Arlington will feature live music, kid-friendly activities, food trucks, and a spectacular firework display to celebrate the 4th of July! This event is free and open to the public.
