On Thursday, May 5, at approximately 4:24 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle at the intersection of N. Center Street and Thannisch Drive.
Investigators believe the driver of a 2021 Ford EcoSport was traveling southbound along Center Street and attempted to make a left turn onto Thannisch Drive when a motorcycle driver traveling northbound on Center Street collided with the side of the SUV. The impact caused the motorcycle driver, a 71-year-old male, to be thrown from his bike. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The motorcycle driver was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.
The driver of the EcoSport, a 49-year-old male, remained on the scene and was cooperative with investigators. He was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way after investigators determined he was at fault for the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once the next of kin have been notified.
