Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Approves Nearly $1.8 Million in Grants in October 2021

Arlington Tomorrow Foundation

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Board of Directors approved six grants totaling $1,755,000 at its Oct. 19, 2021 meeting.

The charitable endowment was created to ensure financial resources which are acquired from the City's natural gas drilling activities today benefit Arlington and its citizens for generations to come. The foundation’s mission is to contribute to a thriving Arlington by supporting the causes which benefit Arlington’s citizens and enhance the natural surroundings and lifestyle of the city. Since its creation, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has awarded approximately $38 million to Arlington nonprofit organizations, City of Arlington departments and neighborhood groups for projects that help the public.

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation most recently approved the following grants:

Alliance For Children

 Rebuilding Lives Capital Campaign: $1,250,000

 Alliance For Children is the children’s advocacy center serving all of Tarrant County with the mission to protect children from child abuse through teamed investigations, healing services, and community education. The Rebuilding Lives Capital Campaign will add essential capacity and updates at their Arlington, Fort Worth, and Northeast locations. Alliance For Children will be expanding the Arlington center by 24,000 square feet requiring $6.3 million to complete the expansion and renovations to this location. Construction is set to begin November 2021.

Bridges To Life

Texas Projects - Arlington Impact: $20,000

 The mission of Bridges To Life is to connect communities to prisons to reduce the recidivism rate (particularly that of violent crimes), reduce the number of crime victims, and enhance public safety. Bridges To Life program addresses the financial burden of crime, the disruption of community safety caused by crime, the rehabilitation of inmate participants, and the healing of crime victims. Their intensive 14-week program promotes healing for victims of crime and helps released offenders and treatment center residents successfully reintegrate into society and reduces the number of inmates who return to prison.

Dental Health for Arlington Inc. (DHA)

DHA Remodel: $150,000

 Dental Health Arlington's mission is to provide preventive and pain-relieving dental care to the underserved residents in Tarrant County and to educate children about proper oral hygiene habits, nutrition, and the importance of regular dental care. DHA's request for capital is to remodel the almost 5-year-old clinic with new equipment, including dental chairs, lights, handpieces, vacuums, compressors, and radiology equipment for 8 rooms. DHA wants to prepare for the future and be proactive for what they can provide for their patients and their families going forward for decades.

Green Oaks Education and Support, Inc.

 Building an Independent Future: $300,000

Green Oaks Education and Support, Inc. provides quality, person-centered, Christian education to individuals with Down syndrome and similar intellectual disabilities by helping them reach their maximum potential academically, vocationally, socially, and spiritually. Green Oaks Life Prep is a three-year intensive training program for adults focused on self-care, independent living skills and applied learning. Students live on campus for the first two years and will move into apartments for their third year while working at an internship. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation grant funds will be used to renovate the campus apartment complex, which was built in the 1960’s, and they propose to name it “Arlington Tomorrow Hall”.

Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County

Nutrition Program: $25,000

For 49 years, taking care of the basic nutritional needs of seniors and homebound neighbors continue to be the number one priority for Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County. With the creation of the Supplemental Nutrition Program and Congregate Meal Program, food insecurity and social isolation among the disadvantaged senior population is being addressed. The agency has a total of 47 routes in which volunteers deliver meals to clients throughout Arlington. The Foundation's grant of $25,000 will fund 3,572 meals. In addition to nutritious meals, clients receive contact with friendly volunteers, telephone reassurance calls by staff members, or social interaction at adult activity center sites.

Trinity Kids

Royal Family Kids Camps: $10,000

Trinity Kids focus is on the growth and development of children who have suffered from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Trinity Kids hopes to break the cycle of child abuse by positively impacting the lives of exploited children in Arlington and its surrounding cities by offering free activities that are designed to provide fun, safe, and positive memories. Trinity Kids will provide two one-week long overnight Royal Family Kids' Camps in July 2022 for up to 128 children ages 6-12. It also provides weekend events for teenagers focused on building trust with adults. Each activity helps to uplift the campers' spirits, brings smiles to their faces, and helps them focus on their creativity and youthful energies.
