Volunteers Sought for Unite Arlington Weekend Community Service Event April 16-18, 2021
Unite Arlington, a weekend-long volunteer event organized by a collaboration of Arlington churches called Engage Arlington, will take place from April 16 to April 18, 2021.
The volunteer weekend will begin on Friday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion, where volunteers can register and pick up their volunteer T-shirt. A wide array of volunteer projects, ranging from organization to landscaping and construction, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 17 and 18, throughout the City of Arlington.
“We are focusing on a simple goal of connecting as many volunteers as possible with projects that positively affect people in the Arlington community,” Art Hooker with Engage Arlington said. “Hopefully it culminates in a desire within the volunteers to continue looking for opportunities to do good all year long.”
Hooker said the Unite Arlington volunteer weekend was initially founded out of “a desire to do good for the Arlington community” in collaboration with Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams.
Engage Arlington is expecting more than 3,000 volunteers at this year’s event. “There will be opportunities for anyone and everyone to find a project to serve at,” Hooker said.
“We have an extraordinary city filled with extraordinary people,” Hooker said. “However there are individuals and families in our city that need a helping hand. If as many of us participate in helping as possible, no one will have to do anything extraordinary to impact another’s life in an extraordinary fashion. A little good from a lot of people working together can change lives and thus build up our Dream City!”
