The City of Arlington and Tarrant County are partnering with the River Legacy Foundation to build a new 48-space parking lot that will benefit park visitors and the River Legacy Living Science Center patrons.
The nonprofit River Legacy Foundation will pay for the lighted parking lot, which is expected to be complete by this fall. The new lot will be located on City land just inside River Legacy Park’s Northwest Green Oaks Boulevard entrance and will provide additional parking close to the popular River Legacy Living Science Center. Tarrant County will provide labor, equipment and asphalt for the project while the City of Arlington will handle all permitting and inspections.
The River Legacy Living Science Center opened to the public in 1996 and features interactive exhibits, aquariums and terrariums with native animals, environmental education programs, a gift shop and nature trails. River Legacy Parks, the crown jewel of Arlington’s park system, is a 1,300-acre urban oasis that follows the curves of the Trinity River. Amenities include miles of hike and bike trails, picnic areas, pavilions, playgrounds, river overlooks as well as a canoe launch.
