Rangers Ballpark in Arlington is currently undergoing a $12 million renovation that will provide additional premium seating, upgrades to the private club and concessions, and wider dugouts and field camera bays. All upgrades are expected to be completed by opening day, which is Friday, April 5, 2013.

The work includes adding a third row of Home Plate Seats in front of the two existing rows of premium seating. The 52 seats will bring the number of Home Plate Seats to 148 between the dugouts. The new row will decrease the distance from the home plate screen to the plate from 52 feet, 8 inches to 50 feet, one inch.

Also, a new Rangers merchandise store is being built where the West Box Office currently exists on the Main Concourse between the Home Plate and First Base gates. The 2,120-square-foot store will open in-game and feature a wide range of Rangers merchandise. The existing entrance to what will be known as the Capital One Club and the seating area in Section 126 will be removed, giving fans entering the ballpark through the Home Plate gate a wide-open view of the playing field.

New concession stands will be added on the south side of the new retail store and along the outer wall of the Main Concourse on the third base side of Rangers Ballpark. These locations will feature state-of-the-art cooking equipment, including display cooking areas similar to what was done in Vandergriff Plaza last winter.

"By improving some of the cooking areas, most of the portables that lined the back of the west box office will go away," said Rob Matwick, Executive Vice President of Ballpark Operations. "That helps with circulation and the ability for guests to move around the Main Concourse, which is significant."

Overall, the addition of the Home Plate Seats, permanent seats in the Capital One Club, and other adjustments will change the seating capacity of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington from 48,194 to 48,114. All season ticket holders in the affected seats have been notified of the changes.

The Rangers have allocated more than $35 million in ballpark renovations the three last years.
