Days are getting warmer, the school year is coming to close, and the Arlington Public Library is gearing up for another season of Summer Reading Club. This year's theme, Discover Your Story, invites readers of all ages and interests to explore the world around them—both with stories and books, and through live events throughout Arlington. Participate online, or join the fun at any Arlington Public Library location! Summer Reading Club begins on June 2 and runs until August 4.
It's easy to participate in Summer Reading Club. Just read, record it, and earn prizes. Reading is fun all year round, but to be eligible for prizes, reading must be completed between June 2 and August 4. Early learners (children ages 0 to 4), read 20 books with a caregiver. Children, teens and adults (everyone ages 5 and up), read five hours total.
After reading, turn in a reading log before picking up prizes. This year, participants can choose between filling out a brief online form or turning in a physical, paper log to any library location. Library staff will be glad to help with either option.
All library locations will have Summer Reading Club prizes available! Every participant receives a small toy or phone accessory. Children can also choose a book, and children and teens can pick from free giveaways from local businesses. Children and teens also earn a pass for a free visit to an Arlington pool, as well as a free ticket to the Texas Rangers game on August 17.
This year, readers ages 8 to 11 are eligible for an extra giveaway. The Kiwanis Club of Arlington is giving away bikes to 10 readers. Everyone ages 8 to 11 is automatically entered in this bonus prize round simply by completing their reading log.
All prizes are while supplies last, and some coupons may have restrictions.
Summer Reading Club goes beyond just books and includes live events all summer, for all ages. Click here to see all events, from storytimes and book clubs to film screenings, a pop-culture convention, science camps, and more. Summer Reading Club programs begin on June 11, with events at the Downtown Library starting after it opens on June 16. Some events require online registration but all are free! Don't miss this season of summer fun at the Arlington Public Library.
