Lamar High School student Katrina Lowther aims to bring awareness about stray and abandoned dogs and cats that end up in the shelter through her "One Paw at A Time" service project.
This event, held in partnership with Arlington Animal Services, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the Elm Grove Pavilion in River Legacy Park, 701 NW Green Oaks in north Arlington.
Besides collecting donations to benefit animals at the shelter, "One Paw at A Time" will connect participants with animal-centric services and volunteer opportunities available in The American Dream City. These include the Arlington Animal Services mobile pet adoption unit, Turtle the Painting Pit Bull from Respect A Bull, Inc., the Golden PAWS volunteer group and the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP).
TCAP will provide low cost vaccines for pets at the event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Lowther, who loves animals, is a volunteer at Arlington Animal Services. She launched her One Paw at a Time service project as part of her participation in the Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council. The service project also included a donation drive at Lamar High School and First Christian Church.
These donations will be accepted at the River Legacy event:
- Bleach
- Windex
- Paper towels
- Distilled white vinegar
- Dawn dish soap
