Big changes, including a new name, are underway at the hospital many know as Medical Center Arlington.

Signs inside and outside the hospital at 3301 Matlock Road near Interstate 20 have already started to change to reflect the new name, Medical City Arlington (MCA). The renaming is part of a unifying name change for Medical City Healthcare's 13 North Texas hospitals and seven off-campus hospital Emergency Rooms that was announced by the company last November.

"For years we have been a corporate family connected under Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). Now, the public and our patients will be able to immediately identify our expansive and unified system of care in their own communities," said Winston Borland, CEO of Medical City Arlington.

Medical City Arlington, a 366-bed, full-service, acute care hospital, is also undergoing a $100 million improvement project. This includes a $15 million addition to the acute care tower for inpatient rehab and $25 million expansion to the emergency room and intensive care unit. The Women's tower will become Medical City Arlington's Women's Hospital as part of a $60 million expansion and renovation.

MCA was the first certified Chest Pain Center and the first certified Primary Stroke Center in Tarrant County, both designated by The Joint Commission. As the official hospital of the Texas Rangers, MCA provides high quality orthopedic services and is a top performer in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care. A Level III trauma center, MCA is also known for cancer, neurologic, and gastrointestinal care and delivered more than 4,300 babies in 2015. MCA is staffed by more than 1,200 dedicated health care professionals and volunteers, including more than 600 physicians.
