Kevin Hervey, an Arlington native, became the second UTA men's basketball player to earn All-America recognition this week when he was named an honorable mention selection by the Associated Press.
Hervey, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, is the only player from the Sun Belt Conference and one of just four players from programs in the state of Texas to earn recognition from the Associated Press. The UTA junior also earned all-district honors by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the United State Basketball Writers of America.
"I am extremely happy Kevin has been recognized on the AP All-America team,"said UTA head coach Scott Cross, the Sun Belt Coach of the Year. "AP All-America is probably the most prestigious individual award for college basketball players and to be mentioned as one of the best players in the nation is an amazing accomplishment.
"Kevin is very deserving of the recognition he has received this year. I'm very excited to see all the great things he is going to do in the future. He has a tremendous upside and is only going to get better. I think the honors he has received this year are only the tip of the iceberg."
