Garrett Hawes, senior for Martin High School's archery team, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2017.
Last month, Garrett won the state championship, defeating a three-time state champion from Marcus High School.
He will compete at the National Archery in the Schools Program National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky in May.
"Garrett is the epitome of hard work," said Ricky Albus, AISD Archery's Head Coach. "We went back and looked at last year's scores. His very first tournament he shot a 185. Fast forward one year and he shot 290 at the state tournament."
Garrett has also made significant strides in the classroom as a senior and plans to enroll at Tarrant County College's Southeast Campus for the next two years.
