Arlington was among 18 cities across the state recently recognized by the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center for its traffic safety programs.
The Texas Municipal Courts Education Center's Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives grant, funded by the Texas Department of Transportation, sponsored the traffic safety awards competition to recognize municipal courts that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to traffic safety and preventing impaired driving in their respective communities.
All municipal courts in the State of Texas were eligible to apply. This is Arlington's fifth year to win an award in the competition.
Applicants were judged on their activities relating to increasing traffic safety while preventing impaired driving traffic crashes, traffic fatalities, juvenile DUI, child safety seat offenses, red light running, and other traffic related offenses.
Arlington and other award recipients were recognized at TMCEC's conference last month in Austin.
