Arlington Fire Chief Don Crowson has been named chair of the Tarrant County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District's board of managers.
Crowson, who has served as a member of the Tarrant County 9-1-1- board of managers for nearly seven years, was elected as chair by the seven-member board during a special meeting last month.
Crowson, a 34-year veteran with the Arlington Fire Department, has been the city's Fire Chief since 2010.
The 9-1-1 district staff and its board work together to ensure the district's 2.1 million citizens are provided the most reliable and technologically advanced 9-1-1 telecommunications system available. Tarrant County 9-1-1 District is the second largest 9-1-1 system in Texas, providing 9-1-1 service for 38 cities, Tarrant County, DFW Airport, and NAS-JRB Fort Worth.
The district's board of managers manages an annual budget $20 million dollars.
