The Lone Star Para Invitational is the only Pre-K through 12 UIL competitive track and field meet for children with physical disabilities in Texas. The event will be sponsored and hosted by the Arlington Independent School District Athletic Department at Cravens Field, located at 1400 W Lamar Arlington, TX, 76012. The Lone Star Half Marathon and Mayor's 5K will start and finish at the Levitt Pavilion in Downtown Arlington. Proceeds from the Mayor's 5K go to Arlington ISD Athletics Adaptive Sports. The race will take the runners north to the entertainment district, through Lincoln Square, past Texas Health Resources Arlington Memorial Hospital, and loop them around the beautiful campus of The University of Texas at Arlington.

River Legacy's Regatta on Saturday, April 22, challenges amateur boat builders, youth and adults alike, to build, navigate, and float -or sink -their corrugated cardboard creations in Hurricane Harbor's Wave Pool. Groups, companies, schools, families and organizations can step up the Regatta challenge by participating in the Team Challenge, which combines the boat races with Horseshoes and Spikeball tournaments. Advance purchase Regatta admission tickets will be on sale through April 21 at River Legacy Living Science Center for just $6. Event-day tickets are $8 at the gate. The regatta runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Hurricane Harbor is not open to the public, so season passes are not valid admission for this event.

The Texas Rangers return home to Globe Life Park in Arlington on Thursday, April 20, 2017 for four-game weekend series against the Kansas City Royals. On Thursday, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Papa John's Texas Rangers Throwback Thursday Collector Pin & Replica '72 Rangers Pin Cap.Fans will enjoy a fireworks show after the game on Friday and get a chance for autographs from former Rangers from 6-6:45 PM at the New Era Alumni Alley on the left field concourse both Friday and Saturday. The first 15,000 fans ages 14 & older at Saturday's game will receive a Lynx Rangers BBQ Die Cut Spatula. Sunday's game is $1 Blue Bell Ice Cream Sunday for kids ages 13 & under.

Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's 1960 Pulitzer Prize winning novel debuts at Theatre Arlington in Downtown this Friday, April 7, 2017. The show runs through Sunday, April 23 (no show on Easter Sunday, April 16). Set in 1935 in Macomb, Alabama, the story explores the issues of race, class, courage, compassion and gender roles through the eyes of such enduring characters as Atticus Finch and his daughter, Scout. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Friday & Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $23 for adults, $21 for seniors (62+), $21 for students with a valid ID and $18.50 for groups of more than 10 people.
UTA Planetarium has announced its spring schedule of shows through May 28, 2017. This lineup is featured in the latest episode of "Culture Buzz" and includes Phantom of the Universe, a new planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector which is being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
