Arlington police say residents turned in nearly 1300 pounds of prescription medications during the annual Drug Enforcement Agency' s (DEA) Drug Take-Back Initiative.
Arlington police said Tuesday that last month' s take-back netted exactly 1278 pounds-the city' s largest since the DEA Drug Take-Back Initiative began. This was a 78% increase in total boxes collected and an 86% increase in total pounds collected during the April 2012 event.
Residents gave up unwanted or expired medications, which officials said it will help prevent abuse and theft and reduce water pollution by having the medications safely disposed of.
Here are the APD results for the April 2013 and April 2012 DEA Drug Take Back Initiatives.
