The Arlington Public Library is one of 20 recipients to receive a 2016 Teen Tech Week Grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Services Association.

The 20 recipients were selected from a pool of 52 applicants from across the country. The library will receive $1,000 to support Teen Tech Week digital literacy programming for and with underserved or marginalized teens.

"Technology is a huge part of what our students are learning in school today, and so much of it can be learned in fun and engaging ways," library services manager Stacy Garcia said. "This grant provides a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase what we are able to offer teens and tweens that is not only enjoyable, but an enhancement to their education."

Teen Tech Week will take place from March 7, 2016 to March 12, 2016. The Library will host tech programs for teens Monday through Friday, with sessions that include podcasting, robotics, filmmaking, and gaming. The week will conclude with a Maker Competition on Saturday, March 12, where teams of teens will compete in a series of challenges using tools such as Littlebits, Makey Makeys, recycled materials, and more.
