More than 2,500 people explored and discovered Texas Live! at Family Fun Day on Sunday, part of the four-day grand opening celebration.
The event featured multiple bounce houses, a petting zoo, face painting, games, live music, balloon art, and more. Attendees were able to enjoy all these activities while getting their first look at the new 200,000-square-foot facility nestled between the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium and the Rangers' Globe Life Park.
Young children squealed with delight as they crouched to pet chickens, ducks, piglets, and sheep. Older children raced down the length of a bouncy basketball court and practiced their swing at the inflatable batting cage. All of the activities took place under the shade of the covered outdoor patio space that faces what will soon be the Rangers' new ballpark, Globe Life Field.
"It's amazing," said Randi, a resident of Red Oak, after posing for a photo with her daughter and Wonder Woman. "We will definitely be coming here. I hope we get to watch a game here."
As she watched her young son emerge from a bounce house, Arlington resident Kendal said her husband heard about the Family Fun Day online.
"It's fun, I want to come back. We're hoping this will be a good place to let the kids run around while we enjoy a drink," Kendal said.
Families who ventured to the second-floor patio for snacks and face painting marveled over construction of the nearby Globe Life Field. While the cranes were still and the work site was quiet, many people took time to observe the progress and talk about the future.
Arlington resident Pam Chavez was enjoying the day with her husband, daughter, and grandson.
"I love it," Chavez said. "This is great for the City of Arlington, this kind of family-friendly venue. We come to a lot of games, so this is a good place [to visit] before or after."
