The Arlington City Council has chosen Trey Yelverton as the city's new City Manager. Yelverton has served as Deputy City Manager since 2006 and has been with the City of Arlington since 1993. He currently oversees Neighborhood Services which includes oversight of the Police Department, Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, libraries and the Office of Economic Development.
"We are very fortunate to have someone like Trey, who has served the city for nearly twenty years and done so with excellence," said Mayor Robert Cluck. "We are certain he will continue to do the outstanding work he has always done to serve the citizens of Arlington."
Yelverton received his BA in Political Science-Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988 and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Texas in 1989. In 2009, he became an International City Management Association Credentialed Manager.
"I am looking forward to this new challenge," said Yelverton. "I am honored and humbled. I've lived in Arlington for 26 years and to be able to continue to serve our residents in this manner is a very unique opportunity."
Yelverton succeeds Bob Byrd who served as interim City Manager while the council conducted a nationwide search for a new City Manager.
Once the details of Yelverton's contract are finalized, the Arlington City Council is expected to vote on his appointment at an upcoming council meeting.
