Early Tuesday morning, a bird and his owner had a heart-warming reunion. Captain Jack and his owner, Bill Salmon, were reunited more than a week after the Macaw parrot was taken during a commercial burglary. Mr. Salmon had been concerned that he might never see Captain Jack again, but was ecstatic to be reunited with the bird who is also the mascot of his automotive business.
Within hours of the Arlington Police Department pushing out information Monday about Captain Jack being taken from Sunrise Automotive, a woman called to report she saw a bird that matched Captain Jack's description. The woman said that last week she saw two men dump a bird in Hurst and called the city's animal services. The bird was taken in by Hurst Animal Services and was going to be made available for adoption. Instead, just days before Thanksgiving, he is returning home.
