Arlington Parks & Recreation's Food Truck Fridays

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department's Food Truck Fridays lunch series in Downtown Arlington is back again this Friday, May 5. This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday until May 19 at Founders Plaza, 100 W Abram Street. The park is located next to the Levitt Pavilion, just south of Arlington City Hall. Each Friday will feature a new lineup of food trucks, allowing visitors the opportunity to taste and try out different fare. The food truck line-ups will be announced the Wednesday before each event at www.naturallyfun.org/foodtruck.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Temporary road closures are in effect until May 22 for sections of Abram Street, Mesquite Street and Center Street in Downtown because of ongoing work on the 101 Center mixed-use development project. Residents planning to attend Food Truck Friday or visit City Hall, the Levitt Pavilion/Founders Plaza or Municipal Court should take these closures into account when planning their route.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Opening Weekend

From thrilling slides to relaxing pools, Arlington residents and visitors will be happy to hear that Hurricane Harbor's opening weekend has finally arrived. The water park in Arlington's Entertainment District will be open both Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor features 47 acres of water wonderland to enjoy. Spend the day zooming down the adventure slides, or just kick back in the sun and relax with your friends.

31st Annual Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games

Whether you're mad for plaid, admire the soulful sounds of bagpipes or you've always wanted to sample some haggis, the 31st Annual Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games has something to offer everyone. The weekend event will be held Friday, May 5 to Sunday, May 7 at the University of Texas at Arlington's Maverick Stadium. The festival features the finest in Scottish music, food and athletics. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Adult tickets are $12 each on Friday and Sunday and $18 each on Saturday. East Main Street Arts Festival

Mark your calendars for Arlington Proud's second annual East Main Street Arts Festival on Saturday, May 6. The event, free and open to the public, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. at 601 E. Main Street between Division Brewing, Lester's Backyard and Garage, and Mavericks Grill in Downtown Arlington. The festival includes a full-day lineup of 26 local musicians, dozens of booths featuring local and emerging arts vendors, children's activities and food and drink for sale. There will also be bounce houses, a chess pop up park, outdoor reading and play area, street performers/flow artists, ping pong, corn hole and more. Dallas Wings vs. Indiana Fever at UTA's College Park Center

Get a preview of the 2017 squad and watch the Dallas Wings' new draft class in action before the regular season tips off! Tickets are on sale now at www.dallaswings.com. The Wings take on the Indiana Fever at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, May 6, 2017 at The University of Texas at Arlington's College Park Center in Downtown (600 S Center St, Arlington, Texas 76019). The regular season home opener for the Wings will be on Saturday, May 20 versus the Minnesota Lynx. Fans can also check out photos from this year's media day in Arlington and watch the American Dream story of All-Star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith.

Arlington Music Hall Presents Donny Edwards (The Ultimate Elvis Experience)

Back by popular demand, Donny Edwards along with his band Fever are back in The American Dream City! Donny Edwards is a multi-award winning Elvis tribute artist, the most sought after in the world. He is a versatile performer with the ability to re-enact each era of Elvis' life and career. Edwards will take fans through every era of Elvis' great career, from the early days of the 1950s to the famous black leather 1968 Comeback Special. Donny Edwards also recreates the legendary Las Vegas years of the 1970s. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Spring Shows at UTA Planetarium

UTA Planetarium has announced its spring schedule of shows through May 28, 2017. This lineup is featured in an episode of "Culture Buzz" and includes Phantom of the Universe, a new planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector which is being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
