Thinking about buying a new home? Register now for the City of Arlington';s 2nd annual Homeownership Fair to learn more about buying a home in today';s real estate market, down payment assistance programs, credit repair and other topics.
The Homeownership Fair is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way.
This event will offer informational sessions on topics such as mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention, affordable housing programs, weatherization, energy savings, insurance, city home repair programs and more. Residents will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with exhibitors from mortgage lenders, real estate agents, housing specialists, and city personnel.
"Owning a home is the biggest and best investment anyone can make in their future. A home builds personal wealth over the long term,"said Bobbie Johnson, Chairman of the Board of the Arlington Board of REALTORS. "This Homeownership Fair provides the knowledge and tools needed to assist individuals in the process of buying a home. The event will increase awareness of the various programs available to them and remove the mystery in the home buying process."
Lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendees are encouraged register online in order to win door prizes. Activities will be available for children ages 6 and up. Home Depot will set up a workshop, Arlington Library will provide story time and free play, and Parks and Recreation will have tons of recreational activities.
The Homeownership Fair is an example of the Arlington City Council';s priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods in The American Dream City as well as provide a valuable service to Arlington residents. This event enables households to invest in their future, brings a sense of community and stabilization to neighborhoods, and promotes a healthy living environment while building strong communities.
