Christmas came early for children and their families with Arlington's A Wish with Wings and the Arlington Boys & Girls Club Friday when they boarded a historic Union Pacific train for a ride to Dallas and back for a screening of The Polar Express at the Levitt Pavilion.
Rumor has it that Santa himself made the pre-holiday train ride. Afterwards, it was only a short walk over to the Levitt Pavilion to watch the movie under the stars while enjoying hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn.
The Polar Express, based on the 1985 book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, tells the story of a young boy's journey to the North Pole in search of the truth about Santa. The popular book and the movie have made the story a holiday classic.
The Polar Express event was sponsored by Union Pacific Railroad's Fort Worth location. Union Pacific is one of the country's major railroad systems, covering 23 states. Part of the company's mission is to give back to the communities it serves through nonprofit organizations like A Wish with Wings and the Levitt Pavilion.
