Mayor Jeff Williams and Council Member Charlie Parker were out this past Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Walmart on Randol Mill to help raise money for those in need this holiday season.
Mansfield topped area cities in the friendly Red Kettle Mayoral Challenge to raise money for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
However, thanks to donations from Arlington residents, the City raised about $4,000 more than Arlington has ever raised in this competition.
The previous record raised during the Salvation Army Mayoral Challenge was $37,854.93 in 2013. This year, the challenge raised a record $64,127.45.
Here are the totals:
- Mansfield - Mayor David Cook - $41,791.72 (85% higher than his previous record)
- Arlington - Mayor Jeff Williams - $17,555.67 (32% higher than Arlington's previous record)
- Pantego - Mayor Melody Paradise - $4,780.06 (56% higher than her previous record)
The challenge started in 2009 with area mayors facing off to see who could raise the most money for The Salvation Army.
