Due to inclement weather, the annual Holiday Lights Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, December 7 has been canceled.
Here is the statement issued by event organizers:
"With significant power outages across the city, this situation has magnified beyond what we expected. While the parade is very near and dear to our community, many people in the community have much bigger concerns all of a sudden. In keeping with "safety first," we feel we must cancel the parade due to precipitation accumulations coupled with freezing temperatures through the weekend. We are saddened by having to make this decision but are so proud to be part of a team that has given so generously of their time, talent, and treasure, for our community. Our team of volunteers, sponsors, city employees, parade entries, parade watchers, and many others in the community have all played a special role in this holiday tradition - a big thanks to all of you! Thank you in advance for your understanding. Please be safe. The Tree Lighting is hopefully going to be rescheduled as conditions allow. Unfortunately we are unable to reschedule the parade, and we look forward to seeing you December 6, 2014!"
