One of the most recognizable faces on TV in North Texas, Karen Borta is living her American Dream as an anchor for the morning news on CBS 11, the affiliate for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She recently celebrated her 20th year anniversary with the station back in October 2015.
The veteran journalist joined CBS 11 News in 1995, but her dream started right here in The American Dream City. Karen is a native of Arlington and graduate of Lamar High School and the University of Texas at Arlington and is a member of the UTA Alumni Association. In 2003, Karen received UTA's "Distinguished Alumni Service Award."
She has received numerous awards for her work as an anchor and reporter, including regional Emmys, Press Club of Dallas Katie Awards and the Association of Women Journalists' Vivian J. Castleberry Award. She was also part of the CBS 11 team honored by the Radio-Television News Directors Association with a 2006 Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence.
Karen and her husband Jim live in Arlington and have three children: Jake, Katie and Kylie. Karen is a soccer mom and is actively involved at her children's school. She also enjoys playing tennis and reading.
