Celebrate African-American history and culture at an all-day event featuring exhibits, dance and musical performances, lectures, classes, crafts, and more.

Gayle Hanson teaches African-American Genealogy, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

• Dr. Geoffrey Mitchell, University of Texas Arlington faculty, speaks onOur Legacy: A Journey through African-American Culture and Heritage in Texas, 12-1 p.m.
• Former Arlington Mayor Elzie Odom signs his new book, Counting My Blessings, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reading at 2 p.m.
• Winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King "Sharing the Dream" Celebration 2012art and essay contest read essays and discuss their work, 2:15 p.m.

The TCC Jazz Band will kick off musical performances at noon, followed by the Cornerstone Baptist Church Choir at 1:30 p.m. Student performances by the Ashworth Elementary Mustang Chorale, Ferguson Junior High Titan Step Team, and the Bebensee Elementary School Chorus continue through the afternoon. The Rev. KM Williams performs his "Texas Blues" guitar beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Children can create African-themed crafts throughout the afternoon. African-American history displays will be on exhibit for the entire month of February.
