The Lights at Interlochen
The Lights at Interlochen, a popular holiday lights tradition in Arlington, returns Saturday, Dec. 14 and runs through Dec. 25. More than 200 homes in this Arlington neighborhood participate and have been enchanting visitors with their extravagant Christmas lights, decorations and displays for more than 35 years. Thousands of spectators, including tour buses from all over the state, travel through the area to enjoy the sights. Admission is free.
Hours:
December 13-22: 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
December 23-25: 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Please allow several hours for your visit.
How to enter Interlochen:
- From Randol Mill Road: Enter at Westwood Drive. Click here for the Interlochen Map.
- From Westbound IH-30: Take the Fielder Road exit and go south to Randol Mill Road. Turn right on Randol Mill Road to Westwood Drive.
- From Eastbound IH-30: Take the Eastchase Parkway exit, turn east on Meadowbrook Boulevard to Randol Mill Road, then right on Randol Mill Road to Westwood Drive.
- All other streets to Interlochen will be closed. Left turns are prohibited from northbound Bowen at Westwood and northbound Oakwood at Randol Mill. All traffic will be forced to turn southbound on Crowley Road. Tour buses and limousines are not allowed on Porto Bello Court.
Run or Dye 5K at Rangers Ballpark
The world's most colorful 5K is coming to the Ballpark at Arlington on Dec. 14. Bring all your friends and run a color-blasted 5K, where you get showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye every kilometer. Then enjoy our world-famous Dye Festival afterward, where you can Tie-Dye the Sky (not to mention all your friends!) in this ultimate celebration of life, friendship, fitness, and fun. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. tickets start at $52.
Swimming with Santa
Join us for our annual "Swim with Santa" event on Dec. 13, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., at the Hugh Smith Indoor Pool. Grab your suits and cameras and bring the kids out for an entertaining family evening. Enjoy some holiday music, swim in a climate controlled environment, and get to tell St. Nick what you want for the holidays all at the same time. Santa will be arriving here in Arlington and making his stops through multiple recreation centers, but this will be the only time we get to have a pool party with him. Be sure to remember to bring your holiday wish list with you. This is a once in a year opportunity to have summer-time fun with Santa. The event is $5 to enter per person with the cover charge going to help the Juan Sequin High School swim team. The Hugh Smith Indoor Pool is located at 1815 New York Ave, Arlington, TX 76010. CATS Presents: Aesop's Fable-ous Christmas Tree!
As one of the earliest and most enduring forms of human literature, the fable has been employed as both entertainment and instructional tool as a part of the children's literature canon. The presumed Greek master of the form, Aesop, is often credited with a popular redefining of the genre. And now, Creative Arts Theatre & School (CATS) is giving his fables a Christmas-y twist with its production of AESOP'S FABLE-OUS CHRISTMAS TREE! This show features an all-youth cast.
Aesop's Fable-ous Christmas Tree will play on Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 2:30pm & 7:30pm. Ticket prices: adults-$10.00; students, military, and seniors (ages 55+) - $8.
