Storytime at Southeast Branch gets a change-up June 19. Eric Nadel, announcer for the Texas Rangers, will come for the third year in a row and read for children and greet fans. Nadel has been calling games for the Rangers for more than 30 years, and received the Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in broadcasting from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.
"Reading has been a lifelong activity of mine, since my great grandfather taught me to read the baseball box scores," says Nadel. "I always have a couple of books going and want to spread my love of reading to everyone."
In addition to storytimes, Nadel encourages children to read all summer long. Youth participants in the library'sSummer Reading Club are eligible to receive a free ticket to the August 18 Texas Rangers game, as well as a free commemorative medal. Pick up your registration form at any library branch.
Eric Nadel's Summer Reading Club Visit will take place at the Southeast Branch Library at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 19. This storytime is free and no registration is required, but patrons are encouraged to arrive early.
