Two Arlington businesses were named finalists Friday in the Dallas Business Journal's Best Real Estate Deals of 2015.
General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant, which announced a $1.4 billion investment last year, was the sole finalist for the Community Impact Deal honor.
Arlington Commons was one of two finalists named for the Suburban Multifamily honor. The Nehemiah Company broke ground earlier this year on the 1,328-unit Arlington Commons multifamily project on Lamar Boulevard in North Arlington. When complete, the project is expected to add $200 million to the City of Arlington property tax rolls.
The Arlington City Council has identified "Invest in Our Economy" as a vital component of the effort to ensure that our community continues to thrive. Both of these projects are signs of the progress we are making on that effort.
"We are thrilled that the Dallas Business Journal selected GM Arlington Assembly and Arlington Commons as ‘Best Real Estate Deal' finalists. It is an honor for these projects to be recognized for the significant investment and economic impact each will bring to Arlington," Deputy City Manager Jim Parajon said. "The City is proud to have partnered with General Motors and The Nehemiah Company to help ensure the success of both projects."
The Dallas Business Journal will recognize its list of finalists from the Dallas-Fort Worth region at an awards dinner April 28 at the Omni Hotel Dallas.
A complete list of deal finalists can be found on the Dallas Business Journal's website.
