Arlington residents of all ages are invited to Build a Better World with the Arlington Public Library's 2017 Summer Reading Club. This year's construction-themed program begins June 3 and runs until July 29.
The Arlington Public Library is always working to make a better Arlington by promoting quality education, building strong neighborhoods, and putting technology to work. The new Downtown Library, which is currently under construction in downtown Arlington, is a very visible example of this commitment. This year's Summer Reading Club features construction-themed programs, events, and online elements that showcase the new library's progress.
Summer Reading Club begins on June 3, with Kickoff Parties at every library location from 10 a.m. to noon. Families are invited to register at sign-up tables, then enjoy a morning of games and activities.

"No matter how old you are, reading, brain games, and other mentally challenging activities are good for you. Fun is important! With murder mystery and trivia nights, escape room design, puzzles, LEGO free plays and more, there is something for every adult that isn't ready to let the kids have all the fun this summer,"says Melissa Jeffrey, the Library Service Manager over services for adults.
Bethany Fort, Library Service Manager for babies, children, and teens, agrees. "We know that families are always looking for fun, creative activities for their kids during the summer so we filled up our calendar with free events,"says Fort. "The library encourages all children to paint, make music, build, problem-solve, and read all summer long!"
In addition to live events all summer long, participants can track their reading to earn prizes from local businesses. Readers under 17 will all receive prizes upon completing their reading, and adults will be entered in prize drawings.
